Sump as second display tank (pic)

I saw a setup like the one your drawing depicts. Basically, a variation on the toilet tank setup.
The 'sump aquarium' is a separate chamber from the sump reservoir and is filtered with sponge filters.
Since the sump chambers are in back of the aquarium chamber, all of the mess is separate from the aquarium and the aquarium's water level is not dependant on the sump level.

Good idea hah the arowanas soo happy that the mouth starts on the opposite side!

Hahaha, I didn't even notice that!

The more I think about this the more I want to do it. I think I may try this with my current tank. Buy a 55 to replace the current sump and take the middle cabinet door off... hmm...

since you already have the tank i'd say go for it. what's the worst that would happen?, you'd just end up with 2 tanks instead of 1 tank, and 1 tank/sump.

I see that done a LOT with salt water guys, I've also seen some guys with HUGE setups use LARGE sumps as growouts.
