Looks like a winner.

You think :screwy:

You just missed the two most common standard designs when making sumps :grinno:
No1 Not a good idea to have your media in the up flowing chambers of the sump it’s a real pain. It tends to end up flowing over into the next chamber or you are always trying to keep it down.

No2 Not a good idea to have your media all the way to the base as this will cause poor water flow through your media (dead spots) as pointed out by roadk1. It’s very simple to stop just place some egg crate or smiler material at the base so there is a nice gap at the bottom for better water flow check new sump design out below.
I know you are on a budget but bio-balls are not meant to be submerged. Pot scrubbers are cheap and make a very good bio media but if that’s all you got then use them .

Better option

It is strange that you accuse other people of not knowing the first thing of what they are talking about when in reality, you are the person that doesn't.

It is a classic saltwater sump. They are designed like that for a reason.

I really enjoyed reading the comments between you two (Rat and Chomper) last time you two went at it but unfortunately I cant find the thread.

Whats going on with this thread I have been waiting for a comeback. Chomper have you conceded defeat they were some fairly harsh words you directed at Rat and in my opinion he proved every word you said to be terribly wrong and way off the mark.

Rat the sump you drew is a winner thanks for the good advice.

On a serious note I think both were just trying to help but some advice should really be kept to yourself Chomper that sump you call a winner is nothing more than a useless mess.
