sump design

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
While looking at my tank, 15" is still too big I think for a return section. Need to find out a way to work with I got. Might end up buying a skimmer before I build the sump just so I know things will fit, but I do know the skimmer has a 14x9 footprint. I'll also either be using a magdrive24 or a quietone 4000 return pump......Depending on the water levels I wonder if I could build the skimmer a stand and let the pump sit beneath it. Off to do more reading on skimmers!! Let me know y'all think.

Yeah, I'll be building a skimmer instead..especially when I have some spare pumps laying around..I'll update when I start my build!

Might just buy one, haha. I guess with a DIY skimmer it's hard to determine before hand how big of a tank they handle and since I do not understand them very well I might not be able to get one working well.

SWC Extreme 200 here I come. Once I get this I will hopefully have enough info on the sump/refuge.

Canuck, since scrubbies do better above water and rubble rock in water, was thinking in the bio area, once I have the water level determined I could used scrubbies above the water line and have a bunch of rubble rock in the water. That is if I do not do a refuge, or maybe try and plumb a 55gallon to the 75gallon tank! Now I'm thinking crazy..haha
