i just purchased a used 300 gallon tank with corner overflows and will be needing to build a sump my question is what size i have a sequence hammerhead pump 5000gph i'm pretty sure i was hoping to have like a 75 gallon sump is this big enough or do i need to go bigger

WOW, that's a lot of flow. I was thinking of using a 55 gallong for my 300 but if I could find a 75 at the right price I would use that. I think the bigger the better as far as sumps go.

the pump is adjustable so i can turn it down not sure if i want that much flow ive never done a sump b4 so im just thinkin out loud so to speak the pump was a bargain i just couldnt pass up

I use a 55 for my 300 and a 75 for my 265. Both work very well.
I'll get a thread up on the 300 sump (hopefully tonight)

thanx for the response ive heard everything from 55 to 125 i am hopin to be able to use a 75 description or pics would be great what are you keepin in your 300

I have a 38g sump for my 300 with a 1800gph pump wish I could have gone bigger but i didn't have the room under it. I got 7 fish in there the smallet 10" the biggest 20" it works well for my load

sounds like a nice setup i may have found a 125 i will keep everyone posted

go as big as u can

:headbang2 a 75 will work but its always better to go bigger if you can, the more room the more you can do. ever thought of doing a freshwater refugium in your sump, they work great
