sump help

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That doesn't sound "minimal maintenance" to me at all. It'll work great, and if you like changing / cleaning things in your sump for mechanical filtration, then go for it. But, you could get water just as clean with less parts and less maintenance.

Movement of water through my sump would not be enough to keep K1 moving. If it were, then I'd already have it, and I'd be telling "K1 DUDE. ONLY way to go!" :)

In my sump, I'd have to add some baffles to keep the K1 in an area, then I'd have to have some kinda air pump, or possibly powerhead, to keep the K1 moving. And I'd have to experiment with 2-3 different output pumps to get just the right amount of K1 movement to all the corners of the chamber in the sump. I looked into all that.

Id keep the alfagrog and bioballs in baskets made of eggcrate so would just be a case of pulling the baskets out and washing them off.. The bit with the filter floss is easy to maintain its just a case of pulling the floss out and putting new in takes 20 seconds. I might get some k1 to experiment with anyway is I have 2 big reactors I could try and use it in
