Sump is way to loud

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
i was considering going with the dual drain system to avoid any possible issues and flooding. After seeing this thread I am sure to do it! Thanks!

Could the noise also be coming from the drain line entering your sump and rushing through the bioballs/medium?

Sorry if its a stupid question, I haven't used one yet but working on my first sump.

Use both 1.5 drains, but put a valve in one of them and set it just a little lower then the one with out a valve, put a 90 on the tee you have on the valve drain pipe only and point it down under the water, plug the hole in the top so no air can get in, also end them both in the sump under water. open the valve up all the way and start the system running, then start to close the valve a little at a time to slow down the water and raise the level to just under the other drain, issue will be over. If something happens the water will climb and go down the back up never letting the tank over flow.

Need to add to this, you will need a true 1 1/2" PVC gate valve for this, Mcmastercarr.com.
This gate valve will let you make very small changes to the water flow were the ball valve will not. The valve can be put in the return pipe down under the tank were you can get to it and out of the way.
