my order would go... mech first, then bio, then chem (if you have any).
the mech takes out the chunks first so it dosent clog the bio or waste the chem.
the bio kills ammonia
the chemical makes water crysle clear!

i was going to run my sump as full as possable then if the power goes the over flow should take care of it as it will be be 50mm

when i was talking to my tank builder i asked how i fill them without risking a flood from a powercut as its my first sump i was quite worried. they told me to fill the tank to just below the overflow point but no water goes into the weir, then fill the sump until its 1-1.5" from the top. once this is done start the pumps.
