sump/overflow question

As far as temp, the tank will primarily be setup for a stingray. My room can get cold at times. I was looking at the 500 watt heater, but that seems to no be the greatest heater. That is all I really need to get, to get the tank running. I still need a top and lights...

should they both be put into the sump?

I run two 250watt stealths in my sump...

YES most defiantly IN the sump, Rays can get burnt by heaters in the tank.

Depending on room temp and heat loss through the plumbing etc, you'll have to set the heaters on a higher temp in the sump to get the desired temp in the tank...

it will still be a stable temp, just the thermostat will say for example 88f, and the tank temp will actually be 81f.

I would imagine it would take longer to equalize the display temp, but if you got a heater rated to handle the total water volume (display + sump), wouldn't it eventually reach the temp of the heater?

I havent seen a heater setup that the tank temp was the same as the indicated or set temp...

But then again, what do I know. Lol. I don't use heaters.

I think it makes total sense that the temp would have to be slight warmer in the sump.
