Cleaned tank, now just need to do plumbing. 200 gallon DD with 75 g sump, 4 holes in back 2 on left 2 on right. Sump has one hole on side, whAt tubing, or pieces do I need and how do I make it so it won't overflow or flood? Was gonna cut out corner flow and just use HOB, but I wanna try sump. This is before cleaning Thanks in advance

Well measure the holes and order the correct size bulkheads.....if you tank is drilled and the pump is down in the sump the aquarium wont overflow unless the returns arent large enough to handle the flow of the pump.....

As Sandnukka15 said, you put your pump in the sump, and pump water up to the tank, water then falls by gravity back to the sump. The tank will only overflow if the drains on the tank are too small for the amount of flow (or not properly constructed), or if they get plugged (plants, dead fish, etc etc), or if after a water change, you get distracted and forgot you've left the water running, putting more new water in than the tank and sump can hold.
And there is another scenario, one which has happened to me.
I do like to keep my sumps fairly full, and if too full, in the event of a power outage, the tank drains by gravity to the level of overflows, if they are placed, and pull too much water, too far below the surface of the tank, that excess water can make the sump overflow.

Do you have an idea what all the holes were used for before? I'm assuming for the drains and likely returns? Just curious given the number and placement of holes.

Thanks for the replies. He told me the 2 inside holes "closest to each other from left side of tank to right" we're for drain into sump, and the two outside holes pumped water back in. I've never done a sump or any kind of plumbing and it's really confusing, I almost just plugged holes and went HOB because that's what I'm used to, but I hear so many good things about sumps. You can look up 200 gallon deep dimension tank it has the corner flows and stuff

Its actually really simple.... can you take measurements of all the holes and we can tell you what size bulkeads to get and what size pump will fit with the gravity fed overflows.

If your confused youtube how sumps work

They guy I got it from said they are 1" and I. Need a pump for 1000 gpm? And I've spent hours watching and researching I'm just not sure what pvc I need and stuff
