Sump problem *don't use Luffas*

So now I'm looking for shrimp... sounds like fun, to be honest :)
Do you remember how long it was from putting in the sump to decomposed? My trial's been in for ~2weeks, and still fully woody to the squeeze.

I don't use loofah myself and what i said was how i saw from OP's post.

However i have seen how clubmoss(tough, pine-needle-like terrestrial moss) decomposes in tank. I once bought some which was sold in bunches as aquatic plant in LFS. When i put them into the tank i saw no root and after doing some research i realized that they weren't aquatic at all. I still left them in the tank though. After a month the needle-like leaves all decomposed or fell off, but the stems stayed in tough dead-weed-like condition for almost a year until i gave away the tank. I would guess loofah begins to decompose after a month.

And as we already know loofah can decompose to mush and you are able to check it regularly you won't get a surprise loofah tornado like OP did.
