I just upgraded to a 300 gallon and my Hang on overflow will not fit on my new tank. How can i get the water from the tank to the sump? this blows! The guy at my lfs said there is basically no way to do it.

There is a built in canopy surround the tank and there is a huge background on the tank as well. So even it it fit over the lip the box wouldnt be able to fit becuase of the background. Is there any other way to gravity feed my sump?
not unless you drill it ! well there is one other way kinda sucks you could cut the background and then camo it with a plant such as bamboo ETC. depends on how crazy you want to get about not drilling.even to the point of cutting the background silicone it to your overflowthen you only have to camo a couple inches of the side of your overflow.like i say how far you willing to go to not drill?with the depth of your 3 hundred probly would not notice!

Is the tank glass or acrylic? Why did the guy at the lfs say it couldn't be done? (Was he talking about just the overflow, or using the sump entirely?)

I would do a DIY overflow (check out the one I did) and customize the pipe to fit around the background. I would oversize it to accommodate the extra 45s or other bends. Another thought would be to do one like the one I did but use flexible piping to come up and out of the tank. You would have to find a way to support the part that is outside the tank, but that shouldn't be to hard to figure out. Post a picture of what you are dealing with and I'll bet me or someone else on here could figure something out for you.
