Sump pump

I recommend one of the Jebao DCP pumps. I'm running two of them on my 220.

I think you are probably going to want a higher turnover than 600gph though.

iI'm looking at EcoPlus Eco 1056
for $50 bucks.

You should read the negative remarks on Amazon for this pump. If you want it to do what you said in the OP, it will not work.

Getting a $50 reliable pump that will generate 600 gph at 5 feet head seems a tad bit unrealistic to me but I could be wrong since I don't look for pumps a lot. However, I do think that there are great pumps out there that can easily handle 600 gph at 5 feet, so I would keep looking.

Jebao which is a well-respected maker, for example, makes the 4000 which is the same price range, has the same zero head rating (1,050 gph), but only delivers 710 gph at 3' and 395 gph at 6', so I estimate it will deliver 500 gph at 5 feet.

That doesn't match what you want.

Maybe it will be a little more expensive, but a good pump is really going to last a long time and save you a lot of headaches. Just my opinion.

Whooops!!

Jebao DCT-4000 is not in the same price range. More like $70. That makes my previous point more sharply I think.

But still, as the old saying goes, ' you get what you pay for.' Reliability, customer service, performance comes at a price and of course it's great to find it all at a cheaper price, but the market doesn't work that way for long.

I have never used the Jebao, that said I use Laguna pond pumps (smallest around 1200gph at zero head, up to @2900gph at zero head..
They are quiet (which may or not be a big deal depending on what room your tank is in) use fairly low amount of energy, don't give off a lot of heat (important in summer)and come with a outer casing that prevents stones, large snails, and some debris from being sucked into the volute and impeller area. I have had some running 24/7 for over 5 years without a problem. They cost a little more, but as said above, "you get what you pay for"
Below is one running in its case in a 40gal sump.

My only beefs are, that the screws holding the case together are plastic, and wear out with normal pump cleaning maintenance, and as you can see by the pic, do not have PVC threading which I prefer over tubing held on by a hose clamp.
