Sump Question

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I'm not following th eflow thread. I dont really understand it.

I went and looked at the tank and there are four 2" holes at the back of the tank. Will this affect the setup at all? Better or worse?

Heaps of flow. Are these holes in the display tank? Cause if they are you could have 3 of them for drains and 1 inlet. Please post some pictures, because if the holes in your display are down the bottom, you will have to modify the display to incorporate a weir. This prevents the water from completely draining from the display due to power loss. Did you have a look at my sump thread? You can clearly see thee drains working from the water surface. The level of the lowest drain point in the display tank (this includes the inlet from the sump pump as the water siphons down it during power loss) determines what type of overflow safety you will need.
As for the sump... You don't need any holes in it unless you are running an external pump.

They are 2" holes though. Those are only 1" bulkheads. where can I get 2 inch ones.

Here are pictures of the holes and tank.

If anyone can tell me what size bulkhead to get that would be extremely helpful. I need to figure this out ASAP.

Also should I get double slip or slipxthread?

Look like 1" bulk head holes to me.

Bump.

I am planning on a Mag Drive 1800 for the return. Three 1" drains, giving me about 1500-1800GPH in and out.
