Sump return plumbing.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I can see Eheim written on the pump in one of the pictures and the eheim range of pumps can be used as external or submersible pumps, but it does seem to be missing the cage of the front which acts as a filter when being used as a submersible. The eheim 1260 sounds about right should be around 600 GPH ,could be a 1262 but not sure how much of the lable is still there, well those are eheims figures. The picture below shows one with the cage fitted on the front

That has cleared things up for me, the lack of the light grey cage is what made me uncertain about the model. Thanks heaps, I'll have to purchase a longer section of tubing but I'm definitely going to submerge it.

It will make it a better set up as there will be no restriction caused by bends,You can probably get a grey cage if you are worried about it but if there is nothing that can be sucked into the pump it should not be a problem

Definitely an Eheim pump and it should be submersible.

There are a couple ways to determine the model number if the label is gone or illegible.
What size are the input and output hoses?
Also, take a picture of the pump volute or pump cover and post the pics. We might be able to tell by looking at it.
Another way is to determine how many watts the pump is using. Different models have different wattages.

If you decide to use the pump submerged, you would only need to buy the missing intake screen and coarse foam to protect the impeller from ingesting debris.

Ok so I spoke to the previous owner and he confirmed that it's a 1260. so the plan is to run it as it is for now and try to source the grey cage section and possibly the flat stand piece. Thanks for all your help guys.
