Hello,
I am in need of opinions to use on my Jewel Rio 400 which has had the in tank filters removed. This tank holds about 105 Gals. It will be a freshwater tank for now with Central or South American Cichlids in it at some point i may switch it over to Saltwater. I am looking for opinions on the following items:

1) Marineland Acrylic Sump Filtration System opinions how is it. Also pumps and other items to use with it.

2) Another sump that you have used and also pumps and other items to use with it.

3) Fluval FX5

4) another canister that you have used that will work for fresh and salt

I am trying to get back in to fish keeping since i left Germany. I thank everyone for your help in advance.

Rob

if jewel your stand is the same as i can find then a sump will probably not be practical unless you do take out the shelf in the middle and the central vertical panels and install a removable central post and a fixed central post at the rear.

or buy/make a new stand.

I would say one of the sumps, i love mine so easy to maintain.

When I say building one i mean having a friend build it. I can't do woodworking that great at least were I would trust it to hold the tank full of water.

i would go with a new stand and a nice sump if you have the money.

go with the fx5 it cleans great works great and is easy to maintain and if you want more flow you can always throw in a couple of powerheads

id say do the sump they are best for saltwater setups so you can add a skimmer and easily maintained as well
