Photo is tank when leek testing with LED lights. With current return fittings not sure how i could as they will still be lower then over flow. think the valve and extending the returns in the tank higher would be trick needed? For check valve i would get 2 so when i take it out ever month during major monthly cleaning i can swap it for the other and clean it.

a swing type checkvalve can be mounted horizontally, and will have little to no headloss. they can be found in clear also so checking to see if they work is very easy. if you are using 1/2 inch loc-line, there is a checkvalve available that fits inline. cannot find one for the 3/4 with a few quick seaches. one may be available.

ball checks cannot be installed horizontally. they must be vertical so that the ball falls into place, sometimes the back flow wont have enough force to seal the ball.

I understand the idea of drilling a hole but how would i do it with my tank look up at photo's.

my returns are built in to the tank and do not go over the top of the tank, 2 bulkhead returns on each side of the tank 2" lower then water line if i drill a hole it will still over flow as its 2" under

Final answer: buy more loc-line so that you can extend the returns closer to the surface.

Drilling a hole in this case will accomplish nothing since the returns are off of the back of your tank. If the returns came in from the top, it would be different story, but you just need to get the end of those returns at the water's surface.

Here's what you need:

Ok so its solved Need loc-line extension . and mabe a power head or 2 some time down the road when i can sneed it into my CC as the wife will filp if she finds this months .

After looking over all the docs it would seem i have a 3/4 to 1/2 Y fitting sure hope i can jam those 1/2" extensions on with man power Vs the custom tool.

Going to put in the order tonight and with any luck ill have this thing in place friday night and toss in some test subjects by sunday.

Thanks to all.
