sump?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It doesnt have to be drilled but its alot easier if it is. Otherwise youd have to get a siphoning effect and then have to match the pump to the flow going out of the tank. Otherwise whatever the flow is of the pump going into the tank is what the flow out of the tank to the sump will be.

oh my bad man i thought ur tank was drilled your actually one of 2 ppl who have asked today about a 200 gallon tank with sump or useing a Fx5 and the other guy has a drilled tank haha my bad.

I would say one Fx5 could work. But depends on what u put in the tank. I only run 2 Fx5s on my 330 even though i should have at least 3 but its doing just fine.

id rather not drill my tank haha. this seems complex. why wouldnt one fx5 work or a eheim pro 3

It could but at 600 gph you'd be turning your tank over 3 times an hour, which is a little light for large SA cichlids. It's doable with a good maintenance routine. 2 fx5's would be better. Sump would be best, but it'll take more thought and planning. You could use a continous siphon overflow box, but they run $120-140 for a tank your size. A sump will start getting expensive if you go that route.
