Here are a couple more pictures of our snakehead, (Channa Marulioides), and a VERY rare glimpse of probably one of the most beautiful and rare catfish we own, Horabagrus Brachysoma, or Sun Catfish.

Sorry, we don`t have any better pictures of her. She is very reclusive and it`s taken years to actually get this shot. She basically lays in her tunnel, swims around in the dead of night but she`d come out after lights out and I managed to get that shot.

Try looking on planet catfish under Horabagrus Brachysoma, they should show some better pictures. She`s a lovely gold green colour, very placid but has a large mouth. You can see a rope fish also in the shot which she is fine with.
As far as I know she is an Asian Catfish. They are comercially farmed so they are probably plentiful, the problem is them only coming out when it`s dark. Hope this has been of some help for you.

I was curious, because I have never seen them for sale, so I looked them up, they are a food fish from southern India that reach 18" and eat any meaty food or fish that they can get their mouths around. I found them listed as sun cats, bull's eye cats, Gunther's cats, and golden redtail cats, one old listing had a 6" one for sale for $40. her is a pic from the Indiafish.net site.

They shouldn`t be that expensive, here they are about £4 each!!!!, think that`s about $7.
They definately don`t grow to 18" in the aquarium, 10-12" is a good size.
Thanks for looking it up and posting a better picture Guppy.
They are a brilliant fish but people will be dissapointed because you hardly ever see them out and it`s unfair not to provide a hiding place (in my opinion).
Although I would agree that, like most catfish they will eat anything they can fit in their mouth, she is not at all aggresive and this is the second one we have kept.

that sun cat is awsome

mine cost me 6 dollars and comes out all the time just skidish around peeps

I've seen those cats for sale at PetsMart. They're either called the Eclipse Catfish or Two-Spot Catfish.

The 18" listing was from a government site in India, That was the max for wild caught market fish. The price was from a listing that was several years old.
