What size tank is yours in? He looks way bigger than mine even though he's only a couple inches longer from your estimation. Mine is in a 220g. Or are you saying 11" SL (to caual fin). I'm using TL (head to end of tail).

You also said you've had yours 5 yrs. How big was he when you got him? I actually had a pair, but the flathead ate one recently (pissed me off - didn't think he was big enough to get one down - he's now in my pond), and that one was an inch smaller and not as thick, despite having had them the same amount of time. I dunno if it's a male/female diff. or what, but my bigger one has kind of a hump behind the head like yours, and the other one didn't.
I want to get another one since this one liked having a companion, but it's gonna have to be one around the same size as the last one at least, as I don't feel like growing one out for another 5 yrs. :p

He could be bigger, was guestemation , maybe 12" with 5" diameter or bigger, He is really thick.

Tank is 155, he eats well, nls, carnivore pellets, tilapia.

You can tell male vs female by color, I forgot wich is wich but one sex has much bolder yellow than the other. Iv had him for almost 3 years, was a freebee with a cl tank pickup. I love him , only cat in collection. Doubled in size since I've had him. Previous owner said he had him 2 years.

Yours looks good. Mine is akward lol he rather sit in the corner of the overflow instead of hiding all day. Its curious too. It nipped my hand earlier while doing a water change lol.

Na, your guy is perfect from the sound of it. That's how they look when their littile, my guy just happens to be a monster, the heaviest fish in my tank. From the other sun cat owners iv incountered I haven't seen any larger yet. If yours is out and about that's a good thing. My guy took a,year to get used to me.

I've seen some on a web site close to yours in length. I guess he's just a normal sun cat. At the lfs he was hiding with another in a cave but when I got him home he was always out and about. He was munching on bloodworms with in minutes of being in my tank.
