So, who has one?

Who's had one up and running for a significant length of time?

Are they worth a flip, or would I be better off just buying something else? If so what, for under $100 would be better?

I am not looking at this unit for its filtration ability. The tank its going on is already up, running and well filtered (345 in sig). I would like to add it or a filter similar for the use with a surface skimmer and turbo twist 12x.

Thanks for any: info, experience, advice, opinions, etc.

I threw a 304b on my 135. Moves a ton of water and has worked well for over a year. Intake and output are the weak points. Canister itself is solid and runs like a champ. Quiet....

i have a sun sun filter i got off of ebay for about 50-60 bucks free shipping rated for a 100 gallon. dont have the box so dont have the info but it works fine for a fish tank just do not use it for a turtle tank. it will get clogged and the output will start coming out much less and less.other than that it works "OK" for a fish tank. ohh and i dont know how the ones with the uv bulb works. good luck man

Good to know its quiet! But you have me a bit concerned about the intake and output...

What exactly are their weak points?

I have one without the UV and I agree that the intake and spray bar are cheap but can be easily replaced with a diy version. The other weak point I found was the baskets themselves. They are prone to getting stuck in the body and crack if forced to hard to remove. If you take care with the filter and don't force anything though it's a good buy for the price.

Thanks for all the replies guys, sounds like this filter is legit. :D

I'm happy with mine, although I don't know if I would rely on just one as my sole method of filtration, but it's definitly a good choice if you're looking to add a second one, or even just have it sitting in the box as a backup in case of emergency.

I have the four stage one. Works well(nothing broke, moves water, quiet)

I don't like the design mainly because there are no handles to move this thing, and the lever to push the cover close is pretty flimsy...always worried that I would break this thing.
