SunCatfish Dilemma

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
just dropped a garlic-rubbed-shrimp in the tank, but the catfish doesnt even look at it

I just remembered what I did when I just got my sun cats. I gave them a cave ornament (the coral one) where its dark inside. For the first week or two I didn't see them eat so when I was in the pet store, I asked them how they feed their sun cats. They told me to try putting a cube of bloodworms right into their cave. Thats what I did and they started eating. I think the main part of this is the darkness of the cave that calms them down.

I have a 8.5 in sun catfish in a 50 gallon wide tank at the moment.
The problem is that it just won't eat. I've tried frozen bloodworms, monster pellets, shrimp, flakes, and even live guppies. Nothing seems to make it want to eat.

It is in the tank all by itself, and a large piece of PVC pipe to make it its home which it always stays in.

a few days ago, I tranferred it from a 20 gallon to this 50 gallon since it needed more space and it began to spazz and twitch and swim everywhere. I thought it was going to die but it didn't.

What are some ways to make it eat? Thanks.

My foot long one is the same way. I've NEVER seen him eat, and never see any food left over for him, but it's been a long time, and he's been growing fast..

Maybe I should add more caves into the tank because the only thing in there right is a large PVC pipe but I guess it doesnt block out as much light as possible. Thanks guys.
Ill try that.

Now I just need to decide what to put in there. More PVC or something cave-like
