i'm just wondering, i (probably) won't be getting one anytime soon:cry:

do they retain this orange/red color, or do they lose it with age?

i have not seen pics of any adults with this coloration. do they lose it, or is this just recently developed, and none of them have matured?

this is easily my favorite snake atm, assuming they keep the color. so, if i get a spot at a nature park, i might try to convince them to get a big python for educational purposes (as far as "they get huge, don't buy them on a whim" etc) and let me grow it out for them...

oh yeah, and is there any size difference from normal retics? if so what is the average size for males/females?

As far as I know, a colour variation does not do anything to the potential size of a snake. As for the fade, it would probably be safe to say that it will fade out. For examples, baby albino bums have nice yellow/orange when young, but are just drab yellow when older.

It does not fade out.

Sometimes, depending on blood line, the yellow/orange actually intensifies, with age.

The older my female Sunfire gets, the brighter her yellows become.

Regarding size...they do not grow as large as mainlands. They are not considered a Dwarf species, but retain a smaller than average size. Look for males to grow 10' - 12', while females could reach 15'.

Yeah, most snakes fade as they grow

:ROFL::ROFL::ROFL: DENIED.
thanks andy, i've heard the same about size, i was looking for confirmation. did your female start out orange or yellow?

Most sunfires will start out orange, while I've seen some that have a yellow tint, right out of the egg.

My female right now, is pushing 9' and every time she sheds, she's an insane neon yellow color for a few days and then goes back to her bright almost lemon color. When she goes into shed, she'll darker up but that's it.
