sunfish and hybrid Identification

Redear sunfish x Bluegill
Lepomis microlophus x Lepomis macrochirus
This is more of a rare wild hybrid, userly created/farmed because its fast growing and its a great sport fish
Identification:this is a hard to identify hybrid, userly the fish is vary dark in coloration. Red ring around the ear flap. dark vertical bands on the side

I would think it would be very hard to run a thread to identify Hybrids, As there could be so many different variations, and possible crosses, and maybe even geographic considerations. But i wish you luck, and i do enjoy the pictures :naughty:
 
I think you need to stick with popular hatchery hybrids like Greengills, Specks (black x white crappie hybrid) and green x pumpkinseed.

Other names: redspotted sunfish, dwarf sunfish, pygmy sunfish, sunperch
Orange Spotted Sunfish are found mainly found in central North America but have spread in all directions north to WI. and MI. south to the Rio-Grande Basin

Identification: This is a rather small sunfish max size 4-6 inchs. Best identifying thing is there small orange spots across there body. Females are gerneraly less color full with orange/brown spots and a brownish olive body. May have a white or lighter ring aroung the ear flap. 3 anal, and 6-13 dorsal fin spines. 7-9 anal fin, 9-11 dorsal fin, and 13-14 pectoral fin rays. lateral line scale count is 32-42.
