They may be pure longears as they don't always have long ears depends on subspecies. To my knowledge there are five-six subspecies of Longear sunfish.

looks like a longear cross... maybe between luoisianna and central longears. I don't think I've ever seen any where the stripes go into the ear flaps like that.

That is what I am thinking, all of these longears may be hybrids, made of different subspecies instead of different species. They are still pretty fish!
