Nice looking fish. And for what it's worth your bluegill looks like a standard male. He has the dark red belly, darker color, vivid blue coloration on the face, and large earspot. I'd be surprised if he wasn't a he.

yep, someone's hoping to get lucky.
are they always that dark, or is that mating colors? mine are more silvery. habitat-wise it looks like we're running about the same color scheme.
one of my longear started making a love nest a few weeks ago, but it's their first year and he's been kind of intermittent about it.
