Sunfish

i have a "green" sunfish. thats what my local petstore called it, i guess its from texas..? thats what it said when i looked it up. do you know anything about these fish?

The green sunfish (Lepomis Cyanellus) is native to a wide area in the U.S., not just Texas, although yours may have been taken in Texas. It is a beautiful species, with a large mouth, and somewhat grouchy disposition, To me at least the ones i have kept seem to be just more territorial than outright mean, and if kept in a large tank with several other similar sized fish so as not to be able to single out any one neighbor for all its aggression, it is very interesting to keep.

That is really too bad . Such a shame that people who love a hobby, some devoting their entire life to its pursuits, and for some reason we cant seem to co-exist for more than a couple of days without some sort of fight breaking out. Maybe we should break this into 2 different rooms, 1 for the more advanced hobbyist, and 1 for guys like me that just enjoy hearing about general aspects of the hobby and seeing pics of peoples fish. And then maybe 1 small side room for those that just want to nitpick about every thing they can see wrong with the other two rooms, then maybe everyone could be happy. Never really paid attention how appropriate that little smiley below at the end of my signature is.

there already is another site fore the more so called experts.the only problem is they have to cum here to try and save us because they only get a couple post a week over there.

Thats because everyone there is so nervous that they will say somthing the experts dont like, and they will get banned that no one takes a chance so, only a couple of posts a week, and everyone has to take a few days to be sure if they do post its very vague, and carried to the King on their knees, after of course having it checked by a lawyer, and some banished expert to be sure it dosent offend anyone, or express any opinions. What a fun place to be.

You have to contact the owner for permission unless they already allow for educational/non-commercial use.

You say that like its a bad thing, That was because i wouldnt bow to the King, and i wasnt afraid to stand up.Nobody on that forum or any other forum scares me, Im gonna keep fish my way from now on. The group of pencil necks that did that, did me the biggest favor i could think of, I still talk to the nice people from there, and the creeps, too many to mention are where they belong. Nobody wants to be where every thing you say is taken out of context, or where some internet Geek is just slithering around looking for some stupid point of law or whatever to try to start a fight over. This hobby is fun to a lot of us, and we dont care for , or need advice from eggheads Just trying to flex their puny muscles. There are plenty of nice people on this forum that know enough to get us by. All the know it all busy bodies need to get a life, and get off their soap box, or just stay on that forum where they belong. so you .....have a nice day.

Sounds like you are the one on a soapbox.

I don't know if you've noticed that a lot of states are now restricting the movement of native fishes and in some cases, the collection of natives fishes. A lot of us that are more involved with native fishes beyond the hobbyist level are trying to make it so hobbyist can continue doing what they are doing nowadays. So if it seems like we are dropping laws and regulations all the time, there is a reason for it. A lot of states are considering eliminating collection altogether because of the actions of few.

I know of no King that you mention. You can spin it anyway that you want so you feel better about yourself or make you appear a better person to others. I do however remember you begging to be allowed back after your banning. I have those emails if you would like me to post them.
