I really think you need to find a way to age your water before water changes. I think that playing with the PH like you are trying to do is just asking for a lot of trouble. PH is a funny thing in how it works and can be affected by so many different things. Unless you are experienced in how to properly work with the PH then I think you're better off leaving it alone.

Do you have a water softener? If so, is there a way to get water from a faucet that is pre-water softener?

Tetras are still somewhat delicate and you need 6 of them, minimum. Do you have something against cichlids? They're only among the most intelligent, resilient and most resourceful fish on the Earth.....

Try what you want, but in the end, a few hardy cichlids will be the ones that survive

I'm not against them it just that tetra look more better in groups

ya I wish I have space to have a barrel to age my water. no I don't have water softener.

k thanks, if my jardini survive then ima treat him some internal parasite med. u guys know any good brand to combat internal parasite?

I would start with a clean slate and feeder fish, rosey reds, goldfish, etc. No sense in picking a fish that you like the looks of at this point but tetras is fine, cheap cichlids, danios, etc.

The three main anti-parasitic meds I've already recommended. You may not find them already pre-mixed.

Maintaining pH artificially indeed is wrought with potential trouble but if one is diligent and vigilant and experienced with pH management, it's doable. Just very labor-intensive while one's learning.

Please, don't get another jardini until you know what's up with your tank and how to control it and get it under a long-term control.

Different fish manifest symptoms differently and have different hardiness to the same stressor.

Only after you figure out the WC, pH, and buffer issues could we delve into the next possible thing. What if this is all there is?

If worried about internal parasites, you can lace its food with a mix of praziquantel and metronidazole. Both are very safe, hard/impossible to overdose. Can throw fenbendazole or flubendazole in the mix too.

$0.02.
THIS. I had a 10 gallon tank tank I THOUGHT I removed all inhabitants out of, 6 months later I found a white cloud minnow swimming around in the tank that hadn't been fed or had water changed in that entire period. Most other fish would have perished in those conditions, not this particular fish.

I got similar experience like you, I gave my dad 10G with a bunch of mollies and pothos, some junk java fern and hornwort. He didn't even change water for years...the tank completely cover 4 sites with green algae but at least he feed the fish and fill up the water that lost cause evaporation. The water smell so bad that I barely breathable so I have to cover my face with a towel and the fish waste built up like an inch at the bottom, I took it away from him for previous reason (lacking of maintain). Those mollies don't even care about water quality and keep multiply like crazy, I don't know how many mollies in there but the LFS gave me 40 bucks for store credit...

K good news fish doing oky again lol. I notice there's some lump near his forehead. I putted him bak to the main tank
