Wow. That is what I thought, so sunlight isn't a big bad issue like everyone says for a planted tank. Thanks for the feed back. Red Devil that is one big tank/pond.
 
usually sunlight isn't enough. sunglow or such lighting will be much more effective and reduce algae
 
comparing a 10,000g pond to a small aquarium is not a fair comparison. usually a tank in direct sun all day is an algae filled mess. It can be done but in general you are better off using lights so you can control the photo period.
 
my thought is a tank near a window with artificial lights and blinds to control the amount of sunlight. You would need less artificial and it is more sustainable this way.
