Sunshine peacock cichlid coloring down

Hey guys I picked up this sunshine peacock cichlid hybrid and when I bought him his color completely changed, any thoughts? First Pic currently 2nd pick before.

Many elements can change a fishes colorings. His status In the group, he may have been the alpha beforehand,now relegated to a lower status since he's the new guy. The substrate or lack there of. If females are present or not...

And it's not only if there is substrate or not. Also if it's too bright it will wash a fish color out. Too dark will make a fish dark.
Fish coloring is a delicate balancing act of many elements.
 
Also have to consider the health and stress of the fish. If you recently acquired said fish, he will be washed out for a while till he settles down and gets used to his new environment.

Not sure how big that peacock is but it’s common practice to hormone those fish when they’re younger so they color up way sooner than normal so they’re easier to sell. Eventually it wears off

It was the same size in the other photo that the breeder showed me

I moved him for now just until I get more peacocks because I heard overstocking lowers agression I will also try upgrading filtration and getting a wavemaker
