My L14 has zero interest in wood so this is new to me. However, I bought an L235 flat flyer pleco on whim and this guy has absolutely trashed my tank. It digs huge pits in the gravel and literally uprooted all my plants and toppled decorations from underneath. Needless to say, he’s getting rehomed lol

I have several XLG L14's, for many years, and never thought they'd go for wood. I noticed the mopani wood looked awful clean and that the tooth marks were the same shape as their teeth. So, nothing like Panaque but has some interest probably in the biofilm like others pointed out. Provide tons of food and 50% weekly water changes and they'll likely ignore wood.

Same with mine hes outta here ! Lol i already moved him into a 75 gal. He made the comm tank look like a nuke went off.
