Weilinchen....I have the same problem with my SD. He hit his head super hard on the glass canopy and since he has never been the same. He swims upside down does flips and circles and then goes normal for a bit. He also lies on his side and upside down. Don't want to put him out of his misery....so he has been special for a month now!

A water tested kit will do right?!

The test kit will help you measure your tank waters parameters so you know if anything maybe off...

Or if some of your fish start to randomly die, at least you can check what the parameters are so that people can help you out more efficiently and elminate some if the guess work...

It's probably ammonia, good job detective fat home lol, best thing to do is get rid of the fish and start over, but if not I would do daily water chages and cut down feedings to every other day

Every thing to be as close to if not 0 before a water change... since unless your tank is really well planted with great filtration etc, its almost impossible to get all 0 readings in a stocked tank unless its very very lightly stocked...

So with that said, its also a good idea to test your tap water so you have a base sample to work off, as sometimes even tap water may have readings for nitrate or nitrite...

With the tank cycle you should see it go in a curve where there is normally no readings at the beginning due to 100% clean water, then after a little while it should start spiking in ammonia and go through the whole cycle till at the end you end up with very low readings...

As i said before, research this forum as there is a lot of info on cycling and stuff like that...

Good luck and happy keeping..

Btw, not sure if you know this or not, but that redtail catfish in your pics will eventually grow over 4' long if im not mistaken....so i hope you have plans for him too :)

Thanks :)

Yeah, after seeing his ray thread and now this, i thought i would be nice about it and basically compile a list to see what maybe causing the problem, and seen as the OP didnt seem too sure on the cycling process i was leaning towards un-cycled tank and ammonia poisoning...

I mean no offense to the OP, but RTC + ray = a lot of waste being put out in what seems to be a small tank for its residents in the future... Although i could be wrong and that is a 800G tank or something...

So i appollogize if im mistaken about that...
