Supa King Kong Parrot Bruiser......

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
What was off topic, was your personal view on how I put things. Next time you get the urge to judge my writing style, or me as a person, just say thank you for the fact based information that I have once again taken the time to share with everyone, and move on.

Well the original poster mentioned you saying things without providing reason. That didn't help the forum have a better understanding of what qualifies as a Red mammon. Instead, you (not for the first time) go from topic to topic telling people "your fish doesn't meet its name's standards" without elaborating. I'll thank the original poster for asking the question rather than thank someone who carefully makes smartA $$ comments before posting facts.
Back on topic
The first fish does appear more like a Red Devil imo. ;)

WTF are you talking about? Going from topic to topic??? LOL

Did you even bother to read this discussion, after all you did post in it?

http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?593908-New-Mammon-fry-2-5-

The breeder of Red Mammon is based in Taiwan, Mr. Wang of Happy Breed Farm.

http://www.happybreed.com/en/about.htm

They do not sell fry, period. There are many grades of fish and only the top quality grade are sold as Mammon, and those fish are microchipped and come with a certificate that matches up with that chip #. The entry level fish (low grade) are in the $300 range, and from there go to $1,000+. Some probably FAR higher to the crazy Asian collectors. Even ones purchased at $500+ that I've seen were not even close to show quality Mammon, more orange than red, certainly nothing spectaculur to look at - and these were purchased in person at Happy Breed Farm in Taiwan, and came with chip & cert.

(from the breeder)
"Every Red Ingot or Red Mammon we have exported to anywhere always comes with a cert and a chip. If you are buying any real Red Ingot or Red Mammon, you must request the cert from the shop or the distributor you are buying from.You may also verify your chip number on our website if you have a certificate issued from us." http://www.happybreed.com/search.html

Soooooooo, moral of the story is do your homework before you open your wallet. On the internet, anyone can call anything, any damn thing that they want - and sell it for as much as others are willing to pay.

$100 is a pretty cheap lesson, and you may end up with a couple of nice KKP, so no real loss here.

Gee I'm sorry that I didn't originally spend an hour digging up links to uber explain every minute detail with regards to this subject, just to satisfy your personal wants & needs, and even when I do you come back with a personal critique of how I conduct myself on a public forum. Hey, thanks for the assbackwards compliment kind sir!

BTW - the original poster didn't ask the question, I did. And seeing as you have such a short memory, here it is again.

If that's the case, then why are you referring to these fish as "red mammon"? The first fish shown looks more like a sloppy amphilophus cross, than it does the strain of fish created by Mr. Wang at the Happy Breed farm in Taiwan, the original breeder & creator of the Red Mammon fish.

That's the question that started all of this elaborate explanation that you seemed to feel I needed to explain in uber detail.

And that wasn't a trick question, it was a serious question as I didn't understand how or why anyone would think a red devil looking hybrid could be considered a Red Mammon, especially after the explanation I just recently gave in the other RM discussion.

I wasn't the one that had to prove anything here, quite the contrary. It is those who have KKP and are calling them Red Mammon that have to offer up the proof. How does a mediocre KKP suddenly become a Red Mammon?
That's the real question here, and I guess what I saw as being obvious, apparently wasn't.

But somehow through all of that the onus is suddenly on me to educate the masses. Sure, ok.

When you've spent a fraction of the time, energy, and money that I have assisting members on this forum, for as long as I have been on this forum, maybe then you can sit in judgement of what I do, and how well (or not) I do it. Until then, go back to posting your gangster wannabe vids on youtube and let the adults have an adult discussion sans the junior high drama. All you've accomplished with your off topic BS in this thread is to derail the OP's topic, you've added absolutely nothing of substance to this discussion. Well done.

First my apologies for not making my way back to my own thread sooner, I was otherwise distracted till now. I'd also like to take this opportunity to again apologize for any confusion I caused with my poorly thought out thread. While the info I gained was invaluable and I hope others have profited from my error as well, I should have put more effort into seeing what info. was already available on MFK about Mammons so I could have avoided perpetuating confusion.

As for how the discussion has progressed since my last post, I'm just going to ask that we all please try to let bygones be bygones. I still believe there's something more that can come of this thread or perhaps a new one better worded and focused if we all do our best to inform ourselves, share our understandings and be open to refining those ideas. Info. on KKP, SKKP, Red Mammons and Ingot is scarce and the info. out there is strewn about making it tedious to find. There's very little in the way of progression threads showing how they mature or diseases they're prone to. While I know some will say just follow the same principles you would raising a BP or any cichlid based hybrid, I myself disagree and think there's more then enough difference for them to merit their own detailed thread. I myself have seen KKP's susceptible to things that BP's would shrug off and the same goes for FH and the like. With that said I think many of us have things to contribute or will and would like it if we all did so harmoniously. I also ask you forgive my poor wording or lack of eloquence as my mind has been taxed as of late by too many distractions and hope what I expressed is good enough to get the thread going in a more positive direction.

@RD.
With that said I now know where your coming from with the whole confusion thing being a problem. I just had no idea that it was such a issue with Mammons. I knew such things happened with FH's and SRT's but I thought Mammons didn't have enough prominence or demand for scamming or misrepresentation to be a real issue. I figured the breeders markets overseas saw less demand for Mammon then FH's and SRT's so many wouldn't be selling fish and misrepresenting them trying to horn in on the demand for Mammons. And yes your right the best protection from be suckered is by being an informed buyer. So I respect your efforts in trying to look out for the community by helping to inform us as to what a Mammon is.

As far as the definition of a Mammon and what it implies I'm still on the fence about it. Like Kamfa and many of the various other lines of FH, there was an original creator but the name eventually came to mean a FH meeting set standards rather then being representative of a certain breeders fish who met those standards. So should Mammons be considered likewise? A standard to be met? Or should it be considered a completely unique fish from a certain breeder despite there being other breeders who are also meeting those standards? In other words should there be a million names for SKKP's just because they come from different breeders but all meet pretty much the same standards? Or would that cause more confusion then just having one name that represents fish that meet those set standards? I also totally see your point since we don't know what fish Happy used to create the Mammon. Is it right to call a fish the same name even a hybrid just because they look similar but may come from different progenitors? Isn't that in itself not meeting the standards because the offspring of two similar hybrid fish might look completely different due to their differing ancestry? Honestly I still don't know where I stand. I however from this point forward refer to my fish simply as SKKP's. Unless there's a new development or I reach a better conclusion with my peers(meaning the community in general).

Again thanks for all the info. and links RD.

@ucantkillme89
Thanks for all your input and no worries I don't consider you mentioning your KKP as a derail or off topic. Actually I look forward to hearing updates. As I said I hope to create a thread devoted to KKP, SKKP, Red Mammon and Red Ingot and hope both you and RD. contribute any pertinent info. you can.

Well I'm glad that you appreciated my effort, Kolt, as it was my last in this section of MFK. And bygones being bygones, I'll just leave it at that.

Good luck with your new fish.

I enjoyed reading everything RD said until he got to "gangster wannabe videos". All of my youtube videos are about my fish lol. I'll be posting a new one soon. I'm glad to see you took the time to check some out.

Kolt I'll post a pic real quick, let me know what you think.
