So I was at my lfs and this hot girl walks in with a cooler in her hands. She goes to the owner and tells him that she's moving and needs to get rid of her fish...

She opens the cooler up and there's a striped raphael and two leopard ctenopomas. I told the owner I'd take them and now they're mine :)

Anyway, in her cooler, on the way home, during acclimation, and even now in the tank, he's ALWAYS moving around exploring, kickin it.

He goes back and forth and even up and down the glass and everything.

I thought these guys were ninjas that you would never ever see. What's going on?

lucky one maybe?

maybe.. I just went to check on him in pitch dark night and he's motionless.

I think I have a diurnial raphael cat! :D

You might be lucky or he might still be looking for his spot in the tank. Mine also was hid all day long to the point that I had to break the tunnel he was hiding in to remove him. Nice pick up I miss my lil guy

Congrats on the new pickup. I hope he stays active for you! Sometimes I've brought a new raph home and it eplores a day or two before it finds a hiding place it likes, but it's true that some really do stay out all day. How big is it?

i just got one last night and he does the same thing! he splashed water out of my tank last night! i checked just to make sure he didnt jump out lol! how big is yours and is it eating alright? i dont know if mine is eating and hes got me a bit worried. mine would not stop moving!

i have two of them. they were active and cute and exploring the first week or two and now they only come out at 3am to suck up any food thats left over.

apparently they like to adventure and get bored of hiding spots. mine was out the first day we got him. he hid for a week after that. now he just sits on top of the air stone. i have heard that if you want to keep him active, shuffle your decor around. it fools him into thinking hes in a new location so he will have a look around the tank for a day before picking his new hiding spot.
