Consider yourself lucky! I have one of those ninjas you speak of, even if I pick up the fake log he hides in (completely out of the water) he refuses to get out... sometimes he like... barks at me when I'm cleaning and pick it up to try to get him out haha

Hahaa, mines been on and off with activity lately, but this morning he randomly came out and darted faster than I could see. Don't underestimate these guys' swimming power.

You might be lucky or he might still be looking for his spot in the tank. Mine also was hid all day long to the point that I had to break the tunnel he was hiding in to remove him. Nice pick up I miss my lil guy
I'm hoping you're wrong, but he's active in stints more lately.

Congrats on the new pickup. I hope he stays active for you! Sometimes I've brought a new raph home and it eplores a day or two before it finds a hiding place it likes, but it's true that some really do stay out all day. How big is it?

It's around 5 or 6 inches, it's not insanely active, but it makes my ornate bichir look like a log.

i have two of them. they were active and cute and exploring the first week or two and now they only come out at 3am to suck up any food thats left over.

:/ I hope that doesn't happen to mine.

one of my kulhi loaches started doing this recently. He was hiding forr the first couple of weeks that I had him and now all he does is sprint around the glass..until i feed them. I'm hoping this lasts--for both of us

Let's hope soo.

apparently they like to adventure and get bored of hiding spots. mine was out the first day we got him. he hid for a week after that. now he just sits on top of the air stone. i have heard that if you want to keep him active, shuffle your decor around. it fools him into thinking hes in a new location so he will have a look around the tank for a day before picking his new hiding spot.

hopefully I won't need to :P
