super agressive cichlid for a 48x12 ?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
That thing looks awesome! Looks mean to me, I would think twice about sticking my hand in the tank.

How big is he? How old?

I am currently keeping a female Red Devil in a 55. She is pushing the limit, but if you are wanting an aggressive fish there you go. Also a Texas would probably be alright in there.

I think that a pair of firemouths and a pair of convicts will put on a nice aggresive show for you. But I vote salvinis. There though and attractive.

I keep a male JD in my 55 who hides when alone, but will readily come out and show off when I am around, he is shy with strangers however. Jd's can be very hit and miss. I've seen GT's that look quite beautiful in 55's as well.

If you wanted to go the hybrid route I wouldn't get a FH, they get to large, but a Blood Parrot would fit, and despite what many will tell you, the large, lesser deformed males can be very aggressive. I sold my old one pushing 8 inches that would bang the glass, and eat feeders. Just make sure to find a higher quality BP.

Grammodes are beautiful cichlids and are super aggressive. But mine was very shy and definately not a glass banger. Maybe they eventually come out of their shell but mine hadnt and he was around 8" or so.
