I think it is funny that they keep laying eggs for you. You would assume that they would be a pair since the one lays eggs. I don't think it would be that they aren't mature enough to fertilize the eggs cause the mature really fast. I guess that they just like to tease you.

Don't feel bad, I use to have a female african cichlid that would lay eggs and and pic them up, carry them around and starve herself, then after about 24 days she would eat them. Nobody would even fertilize them and she would do it all the time. At least your fish aren't stupid and starve themselves.
