Any update on the system or was it just an experiment, I like the looks of this, Id like to add fake flowers in it to touch up the looks, then itd look like it was constantly watering flowers. Im more for OHFs than sumps, Im going to do one of these in the future

You can always pre-filter your pump or pre-filter the drip plate.
Why not double up the system and use the flowerpot as.... A FLOWERPOT! Plant some low maintenance marginal plants or some lucky bamboo to rid of some nitrates. It'll look nice too.

looks good to me but only concern id have is if the pump fails your bio will be dry and all the BB will die!! good job tho my friend
won't really die if you drill the holes about 75%to the top so if you turn off or pump fails, water will still be in the container after it drains pass the holes
