Discus will develop their adult colors between right around 6-7 months or 5". Once they reach this age or size their pattern/ color will remain...............

while this may be true for some vary strain has vary growth rate and some are late bloomers so you can say a certain age or size. it all depends on the strain and individual fish.

yeah i dont really want to add in chemicals and additives and all that stuff ...
i will try varying their diets more than what ive done lately and see what that does

What I was talking about is not a chemical it is the natural red pigment enhancer found in krill and many other natural places, the highest concentration is in micro algie, nutra rose even sells it for human consumption.

If the pattern faded naturally it wil never return no matter what you use.

Highly disagree with this. I have had white butterflys take over a year to become solid white and had one cobalt that took well over a year to lose all the body striations.

In reality most fish probably start to slow between 3 and 4 months, it all depends on the fish............

Yes, different strains can vary in growth rate and some tend to develop faster/slower, but in any group of fish there will be growth differences. Even if optimal water/food i.e conditions are given. You will see more growth from hatch to about 3" and then the growth rate will slow down until it reaches adult size. My first post is just a generic statement........

I think you have that backwards..most fish will start to develop most of their color around 3-4 months of age.

their growth do slow down though (depending on strain and individual fish of course ;) and they focus on their colors lol
