After many months of trying to get one of these a beeder contacted me today..... Unfortunatly i have stocked my tank....... I have a 200 gall tank with 2 red head veija, a Argentine veija, a salvini a jack dempsey, and 2 bristelnose plecos all juvenile expect 1 bristelnose plecos 5 inches aboutand a 10 inch red head.... So too my question..... Would it be possible to add one or more red severums to the mix they are about 2.5 inches about the same size as the rest of my juveniles

So once you add two severums there'd be 7 fish all around 3 inches in a 200g (not counting plecos)? Sounds fine to me. Just watch for any aggression problems and be ready to move some fish around. But the fact that they are still so young makes me think it may work. Good luck either way!

Yep thats correct... I think they will be fine now.... Was just wondering if this could work for life would the sevs be able to hold there own?

O soory no...... 7 fish yes but 1 of the red heads is about 10 inches, including the bristelnose plecos were 1 is about 5 inches and the other about 3 inches. So 9 fish in all if i added 2 sevs

If you have a tank to move them to incase something happens, then go for it. However, in my experience with veija is that if they are comfortable in their tank and new fish are added, they can be terrors sometimes on the new inhabitants. Now, this is just in my experience and does differ from fish to fish. I've been looking for super reds for a very long time, but can never find any.

My super reds are very passive, easy-going fish. They get pushed around by my psittacus. I don't know much about Vieja, but if they get large and aggressive, you may be looking at trouble.

I would think with the number of fish in there you would be fine, but you really never know until you try it. Are there hiding places for the fish in the tank, or is it fairly open?

Well i visited him and came back with more than i bargined for.... He had a stunning female 5- 6 inches thar was a spare from his breding program... She was a beter looker than the female he bread from.... So had to have her.... She was expensive 30 pounds..... Ouch! He then gave me a deal on his non related juviniles... I got three for 10 pounds and he gave me one more as it wa withs missing a gills plate.... Quick question do the gills plates grow back?

Ps my big male red head has taken a shine to the female.... He was rubbing up against her and showed germ his cave that he has been digging out..... This happened as soon as gemale saw her... She didnt mind at all and is now following him everywere..... Love at 1st sight i recon but was hopung to pair her up with one of the youngsters once they grow a bit!

I will post pics once she settels but looks like she already is!

Without pictures of the gill plate it is hard to tell.
I have one orange Wakin Goldfish that accidentally got it's gill plate caught in a net and it tore the gill plate off. The fish recovered, has grown up, and has been doing great for 3 years in my outdoor pond, however the gill plate never grew back.
