So Gill flare can correct itself? That is good to know. My other biggest problem is the fact that this thing just eats mealworms. This cannot be good in the long run.

Apparently the previous owner tried to starve it and get it on pellets with no success. i have gotten it to take shrimp however it just chews on them for a while and spits it out. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

It really depend if the gill curl will correct itself. If the membrane has harden, then you got to trim it off.

Here is some pics. What do you think on the operation?

truth be told I really dont want to attempt this!

i would leave it put some strong water flow in the tank and see what happens after say 6 months

all i feed my aros on is meal worms they are a great food for aros as you can gut load them feed the worms on pellets for a few weeks after that the aro may start takeing pellets

i feed my meal worms on spiralina flake and the aros have now started snapping at the flake i feed to the flagtail

as its a red i would carry on feeding meal worms but gut load them with carrot as thats ment to be best for reds

Good advices bro. The aro seems to have Cloudy Eyes also... Basic regular water changes and a bit of salt would be recommended, imho.

Good looking aro by the way. Wish you all the best.

Thanks T1. as long as it does not get worse I will do that.

As far as the water changes I keep my fish very well so I guarantee it will be taken care of from now on. Hopefully it turns into something nice.

It is actually much redder than the pics!

i didnt know gill curl can correct itself, i wonder how long it took

I actually can see myself getting hooked on these.....the only people that know there fish as good as you guys as ray owners!!

It has the "typical" SheLookRED look (that sentence sounded a bit weird).

I would also give the fish some time to get better before opting for the operation. Keep us updated on its condition. I believe aros are easier than stingrays, so you should have no problem...
