Super Worms - best way to feed them to Black Aro?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Well my 7" black took 3 pieces of cut market shrimp, it was stuffed to the point that it couldn't swallow the third piece. The next morning, 8 hours later it was dead. I would recommend showing some discretion and feed amounts that the aro can realistically manage.

i recommend cutting the superworm into 2 parts b.c superworms have hard shells i wouldnt recommend feeding a full super until 10"+

i only gave it the one chunk a day...and i agree use discretion when feeding thing that could be to large as to not kill it...

feed the whole thing - i use a pair of scissors to pick up the superworm then cut it in two / open up the worm before dropping into the aro tank - the smell of worm insides drives all the fish in the tank crazy (aro, plecos, senegals)

I gut load my meal worms with carrots and algae wafers then I cut their heads off before feeding I heard that they can do damage if still alive in the stomach

i also keep mine in two containers, one for storage (they are fed potatoes and any veggie scraps), and one in a small cup where they are gutloaded with flower horn pellets, flakes 1 day before feeding - i just pickem up from there, snip them in two, then drop them in for all to enjoy

i have about 300-500 worms at all times and feeding them all fishfood can get quite costly

Do any of you guys feed both Hikari Food Sticks and Super Worms?

I do. Super Worms from my "farm" (small tank with oatmeal, slice of potatos and apple (change every 3 days), and eggs carton container)... and Hikari Stick or Azoo Stick for Arowana.

But 7" Arowana is in my opinion too small to eat superworms. Now, beter for your Aro is blood worms, but you should cut it to smallest pieces.

Good Luck !
