Are they good for bichirs? I know those lil grubs are packed w/ protein so nutritionally they are sound, but does anyone else feed them to bichirs? I've only started last week and it seems to be fine, I'm just worried about the carapace of the worm to mess with its stomach

I also should note my poly is a 7 in. ornatipinnis, and yes that's what I'm worried about, I know the carapace of crickets and shrimp hurt baby bichirs stomach lining, but they are capable of eating them fine older, is it the same with these superworms? Halp exp keepers lol

Why not trying the simplier route of feeding it fish fillets and pellets? Healthier and less the fuss.

he tends to ignore fish fillet, I am trying to break him into it and fresh market shrimp, he gets it into his mouth and spits it out instead of ignoring it as of about 2 weeks ago but my mollies aren't large enough to use as feeders yet so I need a short term live option till he finally takes it, which should be soon w/ behaviour. I use tilapia filet and fresh unpeeled farm raised shrimp for it.

would you think feeding him whole silversides may get him more interested, since its just a headless fish, then he may more readily take filet? I've been thinking about it but they are frozen not fresh, so I've been hesitant. also when he is larger (only 7 in. right now, 55 is a growout) should I go for fresh whole tilapia instead of large filet?

I always buy the shrimp without the shell cause if even miss 1 scale it could carve out the polys intestines. If they won't get off live foods then just fast them. When they get hungry they will eat tilapia or whatever you want them to eat. It kinda forces them to try new things.

I'm currently remodeling my 55 so I don't want to stress them that much with a fast right now, maybe in a few weeks after they've settled into the new surroundings, do you think the super worm carapace will mess up its intestines?
