so me and my bud took the kayaks to catalina for my B-day. just got the pics back today. it was amazing! all day ot was wide open on bonita, most were about 3 lbs but some were up in the 10lb class. both me and my buddy managed to land 2 of the 10lbers each. i was using 10lb test instead of the 3lb rig this time and they were whoopin my ass! it took like 15 minutes to land the big ones. it was so crazy out there i hooked 2 small bonies on the same hook (ended up snapping the rod due to an overtighteded drag and too much load):screwy: . all the fish were caught on crocodiles and trolled frenzys. on the last day i decided to pin a large makeral on the 20lb yellowtail rod and see what was huingrly. about 5 minutes later i hooked into a small blue shark that luckily spit the bait at the side of the boat :D

if u have never fish on a kayak u need to try it out...... its the best. the freedome u enjoy being able to launch wherever the water toughes the land. i even have a paowered livewell and fishfinder on my yak. its just the way to go. and when u hook into one of those big ones, the rush is incredible as you are being towed by the fish on the end of the line. just get out therte and try it. u wont ever go back to your real boat... i never did.

okay enuff talk, heres the pics....

Have to agree with you, fishing from kayaks is alot of fun. Bet those bonitoes pulled you all over the place.

I hooked a yellowtail kingfish (think you guys call them yellowtail in the US) from my sit-on top kayak once and was pulled around for ten minutes. And to think some blokes fish for marlin and sailfish from them.

u kidding! me and a few fellow kayakers make a bunch of trips out to la jolla specifically tageting marlin! only 3 people have manged to land one.

that guy in the inflatable cheated, he hooked the fihs in his big boat and then launcged to fight it in his kayak. we at kayak4fish.com fish them after a 7 mile paddle with live bait from the kayak. ive nerv been lucky enuff to hook into one but several members of the kayaking community have.....

3 to be exact.... lol heres some other big ones i caught on the kayak......

the kayak is 28" wide so thats a gauge for u
first and 3rd pic are 25" plus halibut i cought on lb test, second pic is a 2.5foot needlefish and the last pic is a 3lb sandbass also caught on 3lb test. the 4th pic os of the annual danapoint kayak derby, with over 180 anglers competing in the worlds largest kayak tournament. i placed 15th.
