My 3.5" Delhezi had a superworm for dinner! :)
I'd like to ask if anyone knows... I was wondering why the bands on my delhezi are only clear at the tail portion. it seems faded on the body and head portion. will it darken as is grows???

from what i've heard, it means it's captive bred. my delhezi has almost no black markings at all. the markings usually don't darken or get more intense, but they do grow with the fish and they will look better, although he looks great as is! what a cutie!

I've read dark gravel tends to cause the fish to darken. How long have you had it?

Yeah I would try dark gravel. My sens changed drastically when moved from black gravel to a brown mix.
Is that an albino chocolate plec in the back? lol I have one but don't keep with my bichirs anymore to avoid him leeching their slimecoat.

The saddles will not likely change much, though as suggested, the contrast can be enhanced with substrate colour.

There were a few threads on this quite a while back, but the consensus among the poly experts was that a red or red / brown substrate produced the most distinct contrast.

BTW I have 2 del's; one marked similarly to yours, and one with 7 distinct black saddles. Both are unique in their own way and are awesome fish.

You have a great specimen there, keep us posted as it grows!

@Yellow Bichir, thanks for the compliment...she's a real cutie alright! :)

@Thalan , yup, that's an albino chocolate plec at the back. So that explains why it keeps clinging on my bichirs' backs. I should take actions for this...thanks for the tip sir. I really appreciate it!

@ocellatus, actually i have 2 dels in my tank, the other one has less markings. you're right, each of them does have their distinct black saddles. I will keep you posted on their progress...

Boy, are they active. i love to feed them coz they're not picky unlike my ornates. They even take on my feeder fishes and mollies.

currently i'm trying to get a 40"x18"x18" tank so i can separate them to a bigger home because my current tank is getting crowded. and their water easily gets dirty.

Can anyone suggest on a good filtration system and yet not so much expensive?

@ocellatus, thanks for the tip bro. I'm gonna read that link you gave me.
