superworm prob

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Years ago something like this apparently happened to some kids white's tree frog on kingsnake and now so many people are "afraid" to feed both supers and mealies for this very reason. If my 8in leo can eat med supers I think you will be fine. If the chewing dosen't kill the worm the stomach acids will.

Ditto. Plus I wouldnt use any kind of feeder fish and rosy reds much less.

That is a myth that is heard from time to time. It was commented on as such in a recent fish mag. There is no documentation to support this would happen. Anytime someone claims something like this happened, I would require photo evidence. Even then, it is questionable with the latest in photo editing software available.

I don't think fish are a necessary part of their diet. If you do want to offer it fish occasionally, try raising your own feeders; convicts, mollies, and guppies are all easy to breed. Alternatively you could probably get cheap fry from a local cichlid or livebearer enthusiast. Petstore feeders are usually pretty poor quality foods, malnourished and sickly.

Don't overlook earthworms. They are excellent feeders for any carnivorous lizard.

they do live in trees on the riverbank and spend alot of time by or in the river/stream so fish might be a small part of there diet i think

People in Germany have bred basilisks for coutless generations without any kind of fish added to their diet, only bugs and fruit once in a wille...
