Supplementary filtration and overfeeding.

I use 2000LPH powerhead running a 6" sponge filter as well as my two Jebo 1200LPH canisters. it seems to keep the debris to a minimum in my 100 gallon, but it does plug quickly so i squeeze it out in a pail of tank water twice a week. but it is a cheep fix.
HTH

In addition to the sponge, I might also blackout the tank and lights for 24-48 hrs. I Just did the same thing on mine and it made a huge dent in the algae. Your plants will be fine, may not look quite as good, but they'll perk up soon. You could even add a particulate clumper (not the right word, but it escapes me at the moment) basically its a chemical that causes the smaller particulates to group together so they may be more easily removed by the filter.
These things combined will probably help quite a bit.

Biomagnifier is the term you're looking for.

the only airstones iI have are in my undergravel filter. But I do have enough power from my airpump to power both a small sponge filter and the UF, I think.
REPLACE THE AIR PUMP AND STONES WITH POWERHEADS ALSO HAGENS AQUACLEAR QUICK FILTERS WORK WONDERS IN A SMALLER TANK

Add 1-2 Rubber Lip plecos (they max at 6"), your stock won't mess with them and that should take care of your algae problem. hehe
:D
