im still planning on getting leopard geckos and was wondering if tetra reptocal is a good calcium/D3 supplement and using gutload for the crickets

I've *heard* that Leopard Geckos should get the "calcium only" powder, as they are nocturnal, their system does a good job getting D3 out of their prey items and further supplementation is not necessary.

Vitamin D3 can be toxic in high quantities.

Then again, I've have yet to hear about a single case of D3 toxicity in leopard geckos, or any other lizard for that matter.

I have some stuff that thats made just for Leopard Geckos. I forget what it's called. When I go home for lunch I'll check out the name brand and get back to you.

You still want to have some D3 in your supplements, you just don't do as much as other reptiles require.

It's going to vary if you have a juvenile versus an adult too. If it's a juvenile, you should keep pure calcium in the enclosure at all times and dust twice a week with pure calcium and then twice a week with calcium/D3.

With an adult, dust with pure calcium twice a week and calcium/D3 once a week...but always keep calcuim available in the enclosure in a small dish. If you plan on breeding...make sure you dust with every meal with either pure calcium or calcium/D3.

so pretty much keep a calcium powder in the tank at all times and dust crickets with calcium twice a week and D3/cal twice a week and i should be good...theyll be juvies when i get them...and then do i need to leave calcium in at all times for them when adults to...thanks for all help once again.
