Supporting your hobby

Hey guys.
How do you all support your hobby? As we all know fishkeeping is expensive and the money has to come from somewhere!

In order to fund a group of semi-rare catfish I got hands on, and built these pallet planters:

I was offered $40 for all 3, so I think that was worth it! Now I need more pallet wood to build some more

Does anyone else use other hobbies to fund this one?

I used to mow lawns and work at sears. Now I have a regular job and that supports me.

When I was your age I convinced the owner of a pet department to hire me. I got paid under the table due to not being old enough to be hired legally. I would get fish food and live fish at a very cheap cost.

I have moved more pallets than I care to recall, but have never seen any made from wood in as good of condition as yours. lol

I work a regular job to pay bills but often trade fish I raise to my lfs for food and equipment

I came from a humble beginning, so did not have much in terms of material things. Now that I have a profession and a healthy income, I'm catching up on what I didn't have as a kid. I am grateful I grew up as I did, because I appreciate everything I now have.

This is similar to my story.

When I realized The needs of a pacu I realized that what I was doing was never going to be enough. So this summer my wife and I started our own company and I joined the local fish club.

Selling fry has been a small part of funding my hobby.

Just the income from the profession, thats all. And no other hobby that helps to earn money, I thought all hobbies are to spend our money

And I am only spending on upkeeping for my fish, no new additions / upgrades these days. Mainly buying the fish food. Fishes and their setup are steadily going well, and I purposely stopped looking at classified section and amazon etc so that no unnecessary spending.

All these until the next time hands itches.. to spend more.
