There is a recipe online which uses hydrogen peroxide and baking soda. We used this when our black lab got nailed head on. Had to do it twice but it works very well. The guy who came up with this is a chemist basically skunk stench is a oil this breaks up the oil so it can be washed off. Friends have used it as well with very good results. Google search for it should come up.

Nate Dogg mentioned shaving - if the skunk hit the dog in one spot particularly, just shave that spot. A coworker did this and said it helped a lot.

someone told me to wash with Dawn. then rub in a large bottle (bulk size, like Smart & Final stores) of pure vanilla extract. not imitation.
