No but I would like to see better studys on it. I would also hope they dont use this as an excuse to lift fishing bans on them.

They won't. They are not even close to be taken off the protected species list. We need at least 5,000 more of them in CA to keep the seal population in check!
 
This is why i'm afraid to go into water deeper than my waist. Even then I freak out if I think I feel something touch me.

Yes, around the islands and harbors! The seals definitely need culling by more sharks!
 
this is why i don't surf or body board much. i've been in socal for over 20 years and I can use my fingers to count the # of times I've been swimming or body boarding at the beach

i like to eat fish. not the other way around

Assuming you are an average sized adult male then waist high is more than enough, think ankle high.

I dont like going any deeper than knee high, but I'll do it if my friends are.
